Are we in the Last Days?

Last Days

There can be no doubt that we are living in the last days. End time events are happening all around us. When you compare end times Bible prophecy to what has happened in the earth's history and what is happening around the world today, then we can have no doubt that we are living in the last days. In this page we will take a look at what kind of people will be living in the last days, what will they be like. Paul gives us a very clear answer:

2 Timothy 3:1-5 ...'This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.'
These verses give us a clear indication about what the people living in the last days will be like. I will quickly go through some of the traits above to see if they match the people in this world today.

Lovers of Their Own Selves
This means that people would put themselves before anyone else, which goes against what the Lord Jesus taught of loving God first, then loving others the same as yourself. We should be willing to give our lives for Jesus and our brothers and sisters in Christ. Unfortunately people are putting themselves first in this world today. Sure, there are a lot of good people in this world, but the majority think more of themselves than God and others. The motto of today is 'look after number one'. In other words, don't worry about other people, just look after yourself. Just look at how people are today, they wouldn't dare be caught helping a homeless person in the street, just in case it damages their 'reputation'. We live in such a sinful world, full of people who think more about their APPEARANCE, how they are dressed, than helping those in need! You will notice that the marketing industry is all about luring people into treating THEMSELVES with different products. We can't escape from it, the tv is full of it, and we have billboards up everywhere telling you about the latest product you can treat yourself with.

Covetous
We sure are living in a covetous world today. There has never been a time like this where the whole world covets after one thing or another. Whether it be money, cars, nice houses, clothes, men coveting women, or vice versa. The people of this world today seek after material goods and wealth, rather than spiritual wealth from God. This is even true in the professing church today. Just look at the prosperity gospel that is coming out of America! It's shocking to see these people clamoring for material wealth in the name of Christ Jesus, when there are many millions of people starving to death in certain parts of the world. Not only that, but all the things of this world will be destroyed when Jesus returns, so what is the point of seeking after it? We should be seeking after Heavenly riches instead.

Boasters, Proud
Pride is what made satan fall in the beginning, and it is what makes so many people fall also. One of the reasons people seek after material goods and wealth is because of pride. They want to be able to boast about the things they have and what they have achieved in a worldly sense. LOOK AT ME is the way of the world today.

Disobedient to Parents
Children are included in this also. Do we live in a world where children are disobedient? Very much so! Respect is something that is really lacking in these last days, especially from children. I do a lot of work in schools, and it's amazing how disrespectful children are, and if they are like this in school, then they will be like it at home too. And we live in a society now where parents are afraid to discipline their children in fear of being in trouble with the authorities.

Unthankful
When was the last time you gave thanks to God when you woke up in the morning, for your good health, or when you ate a nice meal, or when you went for a walk in the countryside and admired His wonderful creation? When was the last time you really gave thanks to God for the wonderful blessings in your life? This world is certainly an unthankful one, because we have become conditioned into HAVING things and we don't know what it's like to NOT have things. And I'm talking about professing Christians here. I'd hate to imagine how unthankful those outside the faith are.

Unholy
Again, I only need to concentrate on the professing Christian church here, because it is FULL of unholy people. The majority of professing Christians not only carry on in their sinful worldly ways, but they are HAPPY to do so! They think that by the blood of Christ, they can carry on in sin. Many believe that we don't need to worry about the Ten Commandments, we just need to believe in Jesus and live happy lives. Is this the gospel? Certainly not. We should be striving to give our all for Christ, afterall it was sin that put Him on the cross. Are we now going to carry on in sin? We should be seeking to lead holy lives for Christ.

Without Natural Affection
You only need to take a look at the news to see the truth of this. This is one of the many great signs that we are in the last days. The acceptance of homosexuals is growing by the day. One of the things that God calls an abomination has been accepted by the world. And the saddest thing is, even certain faiths and churches have accepted homosexuality as well. There are now openly practicing homosexuals in church positions. Why? Because the professing Christian church has left the Word of God, to fit in with the world. Apostasy has spread right throughout the professing church, and it will get worse in the last days ahead.

Despisers of those that are Good
These days if you challenge a professing Christian in their faith, they will put you down and tell you to stop 'judging them'. I'm finding more and more that people will not take rebuke, and will accuse you of being self righteous if you challenge them on any sin in their lives. The good are put down and labeled with 'goody two-shoes'.

Lovers of Pleasures more than lovers of God
If you did a survey of professing Christian people today, you would find that the majority spend more time on 'pleasure' than they do with God. Whether it be watching the television, playing sports, endlessly walking around shops looking for more clothes, eating, socializing. The world is full of entertainment for people to keep them away from God, and satan knows what he is doing! The television especially has become the idol of the hour. What does God see when He looks down seeking those who are worshipping Him in truth? Does He see people on their knees praying, or studying His Word looking for the truth, or out helping those in need and doing good works in spreading the gospel message? No, He sees the majority glued to that silly box in the corner of their living room or bedroom. So many professing Christians are going to be rejected by God, because they sent more time on their own worldly pleasures than with Him.

Having a Form of Godliness, but Denying the Power Thereof
This sadly points to the majority of professing Christians in the world today, who SEEM to be Christians, but in fact they are not, because they are not walking with Christ each day, they are just carrying on in a worldly sinful lifestyle. They may say the right things, and go to church, but that doesn't make them a Christian. So many people in these last days think that all they need to do is believe in Jesus and they will be saved. Even the devils believe in Jesus, but their WORKS show them to be wicked! If you don't have good works to match your faith, if you are not growing in your faith each day with Jesus, then it is a dead and useless faith.

The non believers can scoff all they like about these being the last days. They can scoff all they like about every generation believing they were living in the end times. They can scoff all they like about there always being wars and earthquakes. But the fact of the matter is, the signs above show us that we are living in a time like no other before us. Go back just 50 years, and you wouldn't be able to fulfill the signs above.

I truly believe we are living in the last days and that Paul is describing our time above. The unfortunate thing is, the majority of professing Christians are not interested in Bible prophecy and choose to ignore the truth of the end times. This will only lead to deception, as Paul says in another verse ... 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11 ...'And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.' ... If you do not search the scriptures to find the truth, and if you are not living a life for Christ each and every day, then you are going to be deceived. I know many professing Christians who are just not interested in the truth on certain subjects, but would rather go along with their FEELINGS. Even after showing them the truth, and them agreeing with that truth, they just say 'it's not important'. This is the Word of God we follow, not some silly novel! Of course it's important.

We are living in the last days. The truth has been cast down and replaced with lies. I urge you to search for the truth, so that you will not be deceived by the evil one.
